I reflect on my career as three chapters so far, each one blending into and building towards the next.
Phase 1: A formative stretch in China, first as a study-abroad student, then English teacher, then scrappy, cross-cultural startup operator. It was a period of intense growth - traveling widely, eating mind blowing food, meeting fascinating people, witnessing breakneck development, and learning how to be independent in a foreign country. I look back on this period extremely fondly.
Phase 2: EdTech and online learning during an exciting wave of growth and innovation in the industry. First as a startup operator, then as an enterprise seller, and eventually as a partnerships and alliances lead. This is where I learned to work with business customers, achieve revenue targets, think in programs, and grow into an effective colleague and leader.
Phase 3: Going deep in SaaS and cloud partnerships, building integration strategies, strategic alliances, and leading complex cloud GTM motions in an AI world. This is where everything has really clicked, and where I feel like I’ve hit my professional stride.
